Our Common Entrance Examination is eligible to pupils in their final grade of primary school (Primary 6) who are between 10–13-years old. However, a child has to sit for the Common Entrance examination and also be selected by the National Selection Team based on some criteria before he|she is admitted into the College. The Common Entrance seeks to select the best candidates from every part of the country into the College. There are usually so many applicants and the competition is fierce. The exam is out of 300 marks.

Federal Science and Technical College, Uromi was established in 1999 alongside two other colleges, one in Tungbo, Bayelsa State and the other in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State.
Credit must be given to Mr. Ibebunjo, an Ibo philanthropist, who established a Skills Acquisition/Trade Centre in 1963 and handed it over to his church, the Baptist, before leaving Uromi for his home town at the outbreak of the Nigeria Civil War, 1967-1970.
